Welcome to the IBEW Local 351 Training Department
The Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee of Southern New Jersey and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 351 are dedicated to providing southern New Jersey with the most skilled and qualified electricians in the electrical industry. This commitment is a collaborative effort of the Electrical Training Alliance (ETA) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). These four (4) organizations have developed the most comprehensive training program within the electrical industry.
All of our dedicated instructors are graduates of a JATC accredited apprenticeship themselves. They have all worked or are still working within the electrical industry. Furthermore, they continue their instructor education at the National Training Institute (NTI) at the University of Michigan annually. This continual education is extremely beneficial to both the instructor and apprentice and ensures we remain current with the always advancing technology and industry standards.
The apprenticeship is a five (5) year program. Apprentices attend classes two (2) nights per week at our new 24,000 square foot facility located in Folsom, New Jersey. This facility encompasses twelve (12) state-of-the-art classrooms, one (1) computer lab, and a six thousand square foot hands-on training area. To maintain a higher educational experience during these ever-changing technological times, classes are provided with an all-digital curriculum that is accessed through laptops and online resources. Apprentices receive hands-on instruction to reinforce the classroom curriculum allowing them to apply this knowledge during their on-the-job training.
Educational instruction does not stop after graduation from the apprenticeship. Our facility is available to all members of IBEW Local 351 for additional education. It is our belief to remain on top of the industry, it is imperative to provide continuous education to all our members. Some of the classes available are: OSHA 30, Electrical License Update, Instrumentation and Controls, Crane Operation, Rigging, Motor Controls, Welding, Code Updates and High Voltage Splicing.
In this ever-changing technological atmosphere, it is our duty to remain educated in all aspects of the electrical industry. The joint efforts of the IBEW, JATC, ETA and NECA ensure we are the leader of skilled and safety conscience electricians in southern New Jersey.
